There are so many choices when
it comes to home furnishings today it is easy to get overwhelmed. With the
wide selection of items for your furniture and accessories for the bedroom
and bathroom it can be hard to know where to begin when you set out to
decorate your interior.
While the eclectic look used to be popular, these days more and more people
are looking to design a room around a theme. Some popular themes these days
include the modern look with clean lines with lots of steel and glass and
Eastern inspired themes with mirrored bedspreads and a divan. Of course the
rustic look is a long time favorite when it comes time to decorating a home.
Warm colors, practicality, and comfort are the hallmarks of rustic
furniture. You can also select from a wide selection of rustic accessories,
include bedding sets, carpets, window treatments, and lighting fixtures. The
colors and motifs of the rustic look is what sets its bedding sets apart
from other design styles. The rustic look usually uses colors that can be
found in nature, including deep greens, brick red, dark grays, blues, and
orange. Wildlife and outdoor life are common motifs on rustic items. A
rustic décor could make every day in your home feel like vacation at that
cabin or lodge.
You can find a rustic bedding set in just about any size and sheet
combination. A bottom sheet, top sheet, and two pillow cases are the items
usually included in a sheet set. Often twin sheet sets will only come with
one pillow case. No matter what size bed you have (twin, full, queen, king,
or California king) you are sure to find a rustic sheet set to match. You
should have no trouble finding just the right colors and patterns, and
should rest assured knowing that it will fit your bed.
Sheets typically come it two fabrics, percale and flannel. Percale is
usually made from 30% cotton and 70% polyester, while flannel is usually
100% cotton. Flannel sets tend to be slightly more expensive than percale
sets. While many will choose to go with some of the traditional rustic
motifs such as moose, bears, or the woods, you can also find sheets sets in
a heritage style. Those with a traditional sensibility may be more drawn to
these classic designs.
Almost all the manufactures produce matching bed sets for their sheet
patterns, including comforters, bed skirts, and pillow shams. You may even
be able to find shower curtains and throw pillow to match your set. If you
want to go all the way, think about getting custom window treatments that
match the pattern on your comforter. Those that really want to splurge can
even purchase matching blanket ensembles. At the high end of the rustic
spectrum are heirloom quality vintage quilts.
